We’re now offering 3D Mammograms to current MedHelp Women’s and Wellness and MedHelp Primary Care patients. Mammograms are a service of MedHelp Women’s and Wellness, your source for comprehensive and convenient women’s healthcare.
Mammogram at MedHelp
Mammograms are essential for the early detection of breast cancer. Mammograms can detect early signs of breast cancer up to three years before it can be detected in a self-exam. Breast cancers that are discovered early and are localized to breast tissue have a five-year relative survival rate of 99%.
At MedHelp, we use a Hologic Dimensions 3D Mammogram for digital breast tomosynthesis, providing a more detailed image of the breast than a standard 2D mammogram. All mammograms are read by Dr. Monika Tataria at Camellia Women’s Imaging.
At MedHelp Women’s and Wellness, we’re dedicated to providing comprehensive women’s healthcare and making it as easy as possible for our patients to access the healthcare they need. You can schedule your mammogram appointment alongside other appointments within our clinic, so there’s no need to deal with crowded imaging centers or a busy hospital parking deck.
What to Expect at Your Mammogram Visit
When you arrive at your scheduled appointment time, you’ll be taken to a private dressing room where you can put on a gown. We’ll escort you directly to the mammogram room, eliminating lengthy treks through hospital corridors and crowded waiting rooms. Throughout your entire appointment, you’ll receive compassionate, personalized care in a quiet, intimate atmosphere.
All mammograms are read by Dr. Monika Tataria of Camellia Imaging. Your results will be available in a few days. If you have abnormal results, our doctors will refer you to follow-up testing, which may include an additional mammogram and ultrasound, at Camellia Imaging. If follow-up testing reveals the need for a biopsy, Dr. Tataria is able to perform same-day biopsies onsite.
Scheduling Your Mammogram
If you are currently a gynecology patient at MedHelp Women’s and Wellness, you can schedule your mammogram alongside your annual wellness visit. However, you will need to schedule a separate appointment for your mammogram. Our office staff can consult your records and let you know if you’re due for your mammogram when you call.
Primary care patients at MedHelp can also get their annual mammogram at MedHelp Women’s and Wellness. Mammograms are available by referral only, so you’ll need to consult your primary care doctor before scheduling a mammogram appointment.
Mammograms are only available to current MedHelp Women’s and Wellness and MedHelp Primary Care patients. You must have an established relationship with a current MedHelp doctor to get your mammogram at MedHelp at this time. Please contact us if you’d like to establish care with one of our providers.
Mammograms are now available to current MedHelp patients at MedHelp Women’s and Wellness in Homewood. Call today to schedule your appointment.
